In life, Amy Connell is a total rule follower (for the most part)! She is smart, beautiful inside and out and really has a passion for following her calling as a Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach. Her focus on both is a little unconventional, saying, “I’m certified personal trainer who wants you to take a rest day and nutrition coach who wants you to enjoy dessert.”

During our visit, she shares about being a Finance major in college and how she eventually found her calling as a Certified Personal Trainer. We also visit about her podcast, Graced Health, and of course, her new book, Your Worthy Body: Find Freedom in Health by Breaking All the Rules.

As a ruler follower, she couldn’t go on any longer following rules that were just not true! She’s now breaking all those long-held ideals about health “rules” – and exposing them as myths! In her new book, she points to science-based facts (my favorite way to emphasize the importance of something is to point to what has been scientifically proven!) and encourages women to think about their health journey in a different way. A little about her book:

Discover the joy of empowering and loving your worthy body

No pain, no gain. Carbs are the enemy. Walking isn’t real exercise. “I have to work off dessert.” What do all of these statements have in common? They are all believed to be hard and fast health rules. They are also false.

When it comes to our health and fitness, we attempt to follow a lot of rules that pit us against our own bodies. Why? Because it’s what we constantly see and hear on TV, on Pinterest, from our culture, and even from other women in our lives.

Amy Connell wants to change all that. Instead, she wants you to live a life of balance, freedom, and grace by breaking the “rules” and reframing the way you think about your health. In Your Worthy Body, she empowers you to:

  • base your goals on God’s calling rather than your insecurities, someone else’s expectations, or what’s trendy at the moment
  • balance healthy eating with enjoying the full range of delicious and nutritious foods God has given us
  • develop a personalized fitness plan that takes into account your current ability level, future objectives, and stage of life
  • and much more!

Filled with engaging anecdotes from her personal experience as a wife, mom, friend, and certified personal trainer and nutrition coach, this book also includes dozens of chapter-end resources like workouts, recipes, and journal prompts so you can put Amy’s insight into practice—starting today!
