I absolutely love that she shared this! Being confident and believing in yourself is of key importance. If you don’t think highly or positively of yourself, who else will?
I will confess, I tend to be very hard on myself. I quickly let self-doubt creep in when I’m unsure about my own abilities. In the past, I have found myself looking outward, to others, to boost my confidence when I should be looking inward. Having a strong and positive self image is an asset.
In the New Oxford American Dictionary Self-image is defined as: the idea one has of one’s abilities, appearance and personality.
According to an article from the Cleveland Clinic, self-image is not permanently fixed, but you can take specific steps to develop a positive self-image. (https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/articles/12942-fostering-a-positive-self-image)
- Take a self-image inventory
- Make a list of positive qualities (you may need to get significant others to describe your positive qualities)
- Refrain from comparing yourself to others
- Give yourself positive affirmations
