Let's Kick off Season 9

In this episode

In this episode I'm kicking off Season 9 with such a grateful heart. I cannot believe I get to do this, and the fact that you show up for me means the world. So I wanted to sit with you for a few minutes and share what's coming this season, plus the theme I'm carrying into the whole year: make 2025 the year that you thrive. And here's my caveat — if this isn't your gung-ho season, then you thrive in whatever way that means to you. Sometimes we're just getting by, and that is completely okay.

I talk about setting an intention for the new year, because mindset matters. Instead of resolutions, I choose a word — and this year I actually landed on two: thrive and flourish. I share where "flourish" came from (a screenshot that made my heart leap) and why I keep these words top of mind on my vision board and in my phone. I also get honest about something a friend and I talked about: the fear of rejection, and how it keeps so many of us from building the thing we're meant to build. If you can start seeing each "no" as one step closer to your yes, everything shifts.

Then I give you a peek at the season ahead — the retreats I'm attending to fill my cup and meet new people, my sold-out Conversations with Passion and Purpose live event, and how to reach out about guests or sponsorships. And I introduce next week's guest, Christy Eller DeBoer, founder of KED Styled, in what's really a part two of our first conversation. Keep going, friend. I can't wait to thrive and flourish right alongside you.

Key takeaways

  • Choose a word (or two) for the year instead of resolutions — mine are thrive and flourish — and keep it somewhere you'll see it daily.
  • Thriving looks different for everyone. If this is a hard season, simply getting by is okay; thrive in whatever way is true for you right now.
  • A vision board is a simple, motivating tool. Put it where you'll see it often — and it's never too late to make one.
  • The fear of rejection stops a lot of us from building our business or dream. Reframe each 'no' as one step closer to your 'yes.'
  • Your comfort zone eventually becomes uncomfortable enough that you have to make a move — that discomfort is part of the growth.
  • Retreats and live events are worth seeking out to refill your cup, find new ideas, and surround yourself with motivated people.
  • When you pitch yourself or someone else for an opportunity, take the time to learn and use the person's actual name — small effort, big difference.

If this is not your year to go gung ho, you thrive in whatever that means to you.
If you view hearing a no as exciting because it's one step closer to your yes... then just say bring it on.
My heart leapt. I just thought, that is my word.
I think you've gotta do more in life than just survive.
