In this episode

Welcome back to Season 6! In this kickoff episode I'm flying solo to reconnect with you after a much-needed summer break. It was a special one — my son's last summer at home before college, and my husband and I are now stepping into this new, interesting season of being empty nesters. I'm a big believer in taking time to recharge, and I'm so grateful to be back sharing these conversations with you.

I also wanted to ground us in something I've been thinking about: a Harvard happiness study that ran for over 85 years. What it comes down to is connection. The people we surround ourselves with truly shape our happiness — so I encourage you to lean into positive relationships and, where you can, gently let go of the negative ones. As you pursue your passion and purpose, who's in your corner matters.

And I'm giving you a peek at what's ahead this season — more educators, creatives, entrepreneurs, and nonprofit founders, starting with actor and coach Cody Mayo. Come on, let's get happy!

Key takeaways

  • Rest is productive — taking a real break to recharge and reconnect is something worth protecting, not feeling guilty about.
  • The 85-year Harvard happiness study points to one clear thing: strong personal connections are central to a happy, fulfilling life.
  • Be intentional about who you surround yourself with. Positive relationships fuel your passion and purpose.
  • It's okay to create distance from the negative people in your life — protecting your peace helps you keep going.
  • Personal connections create mental and emotional stimulation, especially in a positive environment.
  • You don't have to wait for new episodes — there's a whole library of past conversations ready for you to explore right now.
  • This season brings actor and coach Cody Mayo, plus more educators, creatives, entrepreneurs, and nonprofit founders.
I am a proponent of taking some time off to recharge and reconnect.
It boils down to connections. And having connections with people are critical.
You need to make sure you surround yourself with people who are gonna be positively impactful to you.
I really look forward to spreading positivity, passion, and purpose this season.
