In this episode

In this episode I'm continuing my summer mini series on finding and investing in your passion and purpose, and topic four is one I feel deeply about: protecting your energy. You can't pour from an empty cup — and I'll be honest, I've learned that the hard way. When I'm working in overdrive and not taking time for myself, everything suffers. So this week I want to help you get clear on what might be draining you and what you can do, even this week, to recoup some energy and walk into the next one feeling great.

I break energy down into three parts that all work in tandem — physical, mental, and emotional. We talk about the foundations of physical energy (sleep, nutrition, plenty of water), how too many decisions create mental fatigue, and why emotional energy is the one we most often overlook — the one that can quietly disconnect you from your purpose.

I also share a few simple hacks I use, like planning my outfits the night before and keeping my phone away before breakfast so I can protect my morning rituals. Here's what I want you to remember: your energy is not limitless, but it is renewable. Say yes to the right things, release the guilt around saying no, and keep going. I want that "conquer the world" feeling for you so much.

Key takeaways

  • You can't pour from an empty cup — protecting your energy isn't selfish, it's how you stay able to pursue everything you want in life.
  • Set clear boundaries and let go of the guilt around saying no; saying yes to too many things, even small ones, drains you and adds up to a real time suck.
  • Protect your physical energy with the basics: six to eight hours of sleep (more if you need it), good nutrition, and plenty of water.
  • Reduce mental fatigue by cutting down on decisions — plan ahead, make some choices in advance so everything doesn't fall on you in one day.
  • Don't overlook your emotional energy; when you get drained emotionally, it can quietly disconnect you from your purpose.
  • Try simple hacks: plan your outfit the night before and keep your phone away before breakfast so you start the day in the mood and mode you choose.
  • Your energy is not limitless, but it is renewable — say yes to the things that bring you joy and refresh you, and keep going.

You can't pour from an empty cup, and that is so true. And I am guilty of that.
You don't need to feel guilty about saying no to others because you don't want to get in a situation where you are burned out even in what you are enjoying doing.
Your energy is not limitless, but it is renewable.
Say yes to the right things, the things that are going to bring you joy, that are gonna refresh you.
