In this episode
In this solo episode, I'm celebrating the Fourth of July by inviting you to think about freedom in a whole new way. Not just the national freedom we gather to celebrate with barbecues and fireworks, but personal freedom — the freedom to dream, the freedom to create, and the freedom to become who you were made to be.
I'm calling this one "the spark in you." Because before any firework lights up the sky, someone has to light the fuse — and that's the part we so often overlook. We celebrate the result, but we forget the courage it took to begin. If you've been carrying a bright idea — a business, a book, a podcast, a career change, a creative project you keep postponing — this episode is for you.
I built this a little like a workshop, so grab a notebook and a pen. We'll work through some honest reflection questions together, sort out which of our obstacles are facts and which are stories we've been telling ourselves, and land on one small step you can take this week. Because you don't need more confidence — you need more evidence, and evidence is built through action. Your bright idea was given to you for a reason, and the world needs what only you can bring.
Key takeaways
- Ready isn't a feeling — it's a decision. Stop waiting to feel ready and choose to begin.
- No one is coming to hand you a permission slip. At some point you have to decide your dream matters and trust yourself enough to start.
- Clarity comes through action, not before it. You don't have to see the whole path to take the next step.
- Reflection exercise: write down the bright idea you've been carrying, then list everything stopping you — and sort which obstacles are facts and which are stories.
- The 'playing small vs. living fully' exercise: on one side name what it's costing you to wait (energy, confidence, joy, purpose); on the other, name what becomes possible if you start.
- You don't need more confidence, you need more evidence — and evidence comes from small moves: send the email, buy the domain, register the business, make the call.
- The world doesn't need a smaller version of you. It needs your ideas, your voice, and your gifts — the fully you version.
