Alisha Stanley is not someone you would suspect of having a prison record. She grew up in a loving family in Madill, Oklahoma, attended college and started a career as a teacher.

So, what happened? She explains the hurt and judgements of her past, the crushing pain of losing custody of her daughter in a divorce and spiraling out of control and falling into abusing pills.

Following her release from prison a little over a year ago, she moved into a home for women in Claremore, sponsored by His House Outreach Ministries. Despite the odds, she is not taking this current opportunity for granted and embracing this second chance.

One way she is working to do this is through her employment at She Brews Coffee, also associated with the ministry. The motto, Coffee with a Cause, supports women, like Alisha, who are working to better their lives, strengthen their character, and learn some valuable skills in the workplace. This job training program’s mission is to reunite mothers with their children.
